#NotAtISTE noob: Preparing for Day 1

How does one prepare for their first official day of #NotAtISTE? Well, a lot like one would prepare for going to ISTE or any other conference, minus, of course, worrying about how comfortable one’s shoes are, or whether or not one *really* needs that extra sweater because of the crazy A/C.

I, on the other hand, am planning around my life as I’m #NotAtISTE. I’m home, and tomorrow my eldest has his last baseball game of the season- that takes precedence. But that’s what I like so far about #NotAtISTE- I can catch up on my own time via Twitter. I practiced that today with the #hacked16 and #hackeducation hashtags. It was great but I’m worried about catching up on a GAJILLION tweets about #ISTE2016 tomorrow. And the next day. And the next day. And the next day. Here’s my plan:

  • Choose only two or three sessions a day to focus on.
  • Tweet out a request for Periscoping of that session. #NotAtISTEhero requests, really.
  • Keep in mind that ANY LEARNING is a #win.

I’ve already set up my Tweetdeck and moved columns around so I’m prepared. I’ve turned notifications on for Voxer and the Google+ #NotAtISTE community.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have laundry to fold.
